Ensure Nobel winner's safety, UN's Ban urges Iran: WASHINGTON (Reuters) - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon voiced concern on Saturday about the harassment of Nobel Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi in Iran and urged the Tehran government to ensure her safety.
Some 150 protesters gathered outside the Tehran home and office of the Iranian lawyer and human rights activist on Thursday, accusing her of sympathy for Israel, the Islamic state's enemy.

At a deep level economics is about understanding how human beings behave when one or more resources are scarce. How are those resources allocated? Are there more efficient ways they might be allocated? What tradeoffs are incurred?
There is a fundamental scarce resource in science, one whose allocation largely determines how science progresses. That scarce resource is expert attention. Who pays attention to what problems? How long do they spend on those problems? What institutional structures determine the answers to those questions? In short, what determines the architecture of scientific attention?

Independent programmers says it has "unlocked" the latest generation of Apple Inc.'s iPhones
By Yukari Iwatani Kane - WSJ. On Wednesday, a group called the iPhone Dev Team released a free piece of software called "yellowsn0w" that unlocks the iPhone 3G. The software lets users reprogram the phones so they can work on any wireless network based on the same technical standard. The iPhone Dev Team is the same group that unlocked the original iPhone model more than a year earlier. The team didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
